WEEK 4:
Research
With what I had in mind, I started to look for inspirations and references on Pinterest for what I want. Despite the story, I decided to show what happens after the war ended for Whispurreon. So I mainly looked up for street cat or alley way related images.
Main storyline:
" Whispurreon, a loyal partner of a winter war soldier. After his passing, it swores revenge and kept the soldier's arrows as his weapon. It never takes off the hat and scarf the soldier left to keep it warm."

WEEK 5:
Ideation
I wanted to show how Whispurreon lives in a peaceful human society and thinks the world is unfair even after the war is over. Most important aspect is definitely to show his menacing stare, as if it will get its partner back if he got revenge on "bad guys". It would roam around the same area that his partner left him at for years waiting for him. Just like a dog waiting for its owner who passed away and will never come back.
The vibe I want to go for is more mysterious, a vintage or mainly noir style setting. And also in a way, capturing the black and white world in the view of Whispurreon.
I started making a few drafts and also a detail version of my favorite composition to try out the grayscale style colouring.
Feedback
After some feedback from Mr. Hafiz and opinions from my peers, I decided to go for the 4th composition. and also make the contrast in the coloring more clearer to evoke the noir vibes and dramatic-ness.
Process
I first started with finding for references for the walking of humans and my character. I looked for a cat's walk as it was the main inspiration for my creature.
With sufficient references, I cleaned up the sketch for my chosen composition and tweaked some things here and there.

After my final sketch is done, I imported the sketch into Illustrator and started by tracing the background, slowly advance to the front most layer. The background will be more empty as I have quite a
lot of foreground which will be the one giving most depth.
I mostly made use of the pathfinder tool (divide and merge) to create shadows on every layer I make. Creating shapes was a lot easier using the pathfinder tool as well. After I created all the items, I added overall shadow on the ground. The light in my illustration is from the top left, so using gradients, the shadows were lighter on the left side, while the right side has more solid shadows.

FINAL OUTCOME
REFLECTION
I loved this task as it let me explore about telling a visual narrative with my illustration. I had fun creating a story and visual for my character and making world for them. This task also forced me to go out of my comfort zone and use adobe illustrator tools instead of overly relying on drawing soft-wares I was already used to. This was both a good practice and great experience for my art journey. Overall, I'm happy with my result!
