EXPLAIN YOUR FAVORITES!

1. G-Fantasy May 2024 issue cover (Pinterest)

A main reason I chose this is because I am big fan of Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) and G-Fantasy Comics. However out of all the issues, this is one of my favorite cover designs featuring Yana Toboso's illustration. The Red and white wording around it may seem a lot but it still manages to not obstruct the primary focus. The dark background paired with red white wording and dramatic lighting gives the sense of danger and mysteriousness which pulls me in.

2. It's Ok Poster (Pinterest)

Something more chill this time, I chose a cat poster I came across on Pinterest. It's a simple design with calming colours and prominent words, "It's Ok". The moment I saw this, it made me fill so relaxed. The subtle retro feel also gave a nostalgic feel. The playful use of words with the letters slanting downwards made the poster less serious and more playful as well. Overall, it is a simple yet relaxing poster I can stare at for quite a while!

3. reinterpretation of a scene from Sherlock Holmes (Pinterest)

I'm someone who really loves designs that references the many details from a story. In this case, it is a scene from The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes (1892), of the volume, The Man with the Twisted Lips. John. H. Watson, Sherlock Holmes' partner aides his wife's friend to find her husband who hasn't went home in days. This poster perfectly portrays the eerie opium den that Watson has entered in search of the husband. The distinguished silhouette of Watson made the people who laid around wasted in the den looked horrible in comparison. And the contrast of the light from outside shows how gruel and dark the opium den is.
