II. Rule of thirds

III. Golden Ratio
A mathematical ratio commonly found in nature. Fosters organic and natural looking compositions that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

IV. Composition [Framing & Cropping]

1. Single: One character as the primary focus, the only one in frame, can be a dirty shot, where something else or someone helps isolate the primary focus.
  • Close up
  • Middle Shot
  • Long Shot
2. Two Shot: 2 faces must be clearly visible, shows relation between them, can be 3, 4, 5 shot etc. Or even crowd shot when you cant count how many.
  • Over the Shoulder (OTS), similar to one single, to show in the moment.
3. Point of View (POV): Can cover wide range of shot, immersion, paired with POV audio as well.

4. The Insert: Extreme detail, very important, often paired with POV in 1st person perspective or 3rd perspective.

PHYSICAL COLLAGE EXERCISE

Week 2: Mr. Hafiz briefed us again on the collage and gave an important advice, to use big, medium and small images. As well as to limit our cutouts to ~6 only. After looking through the magazine I prepared, I found many images that interested me and arranged a few collage as practice for Week 3.

Ideation: It started when I found an image of a unnamed lady who looks likes she's in deep thought. Using that I found more grayscale images that would match the vibe. Which lead to what I have. I want to tell a story of what goes through the mind of my busy bobbed hair protagonist.PROJECT

My 3 pre-compositions:

Feedback: Mr. Fauzi mentioned my 3rd composition tells a story more clearly and recommended me to use a square base paper for my design. Though I struggled on the placing of "TOMORROW". I'll be sure to make it better next week.

4. REFLECTION

I have learned so many new things, especially regarding composition. Before this, I've always thought collages are hard but after trying it out, I realized it was never as hard as I thought it was.
