HEARST MANSION EXERCISE

Week 5: Mr. Fauzi gave us a video demo on how to do this exercise and also provided photo shooting video tutorials and assist us on this.

Hearst Mansion Exercise Instruction slides

First, I used the quick selection tool to cutout Shazam, then used the eraser tool to clean up the edges. I proceed to Colour match Shazam to the background.

Next, I applied noise filter and shadow using the brush which I then blurred and lowered opacity.

Lastly, I added the reflection paired with ripple effect, hue and saturation adjustment.

Using the same technique and steps, I made 2 more compositions of Shazam in Hearst Mansion.

Next, We are to edit our own photo into the Hearst Mansion.

I first removed the background with the quick selection tool, lasso tool and eraser.

The lighting of my photos are all more warmer due to the yellow light in my room, so I adjusted the hue to make my photos more cooler. I also added blur together with noise so it matches the quality.

Shadows were added on the ground instead of wall as I'm mimicking a fall.

For the next photo, I edited myself on the balcony, the reflection was made alot darker with the hue saturation adjustments.

For the 3rd photo, I made it more lighter and that side is where the light hits the most. The reflection is also fully seen as I am edited right above the water.

4. REFLECTION

This helped me learn and explore more about layouts, colours and adjustment/filter tool in photoshop. Moreover, the limited images forces me to get out of my comfort zone as well! The hardest one for me is where we have to add our own photos, getting the right angle and eye level to fit in Hearst Mansion was difficult. But it was a fun experience.
