TUTORIAL: DOUBLE EXPOSURE (PART A)
Instructions:
Double Exposure Instruction slides
- I selected the subject with the quick selection tool and clicked select mask.
- I used the refined edge brush and brush to refine the hair, lashes, and parts which were not selected properly
- I added a solid background below the portrait and increased the contrast using he curve tool.
- I then Added the trees, created a mask layer and merged the face with the trees. I also eye dropped the background colour so it matches.
- Next I added images I chose and adjusted the levels. I also clipped the images I want to stay within the bounds of the subject.
- Next I then added an image of burnt paper on the subject, I selected the parts that were "burnt off" and filled it in with the background colour on the top most layer.
- Lastly, I added fire on top after converting it to grayscale. I added a mask so that the fire is only on top of the head. I made almost the whole hat burnt off, as it is a symbolism of Holmes' iconic hat.
Final Outcome:
HIS LAST PAGE
This was inspired by the novel Sherlock Holmes written by Arthur Conan Doyle. I wanted to show how I felt after reading "His Last bow". Which in a way was the end of Sherlock Holmes. It was the expect of how the busy London City continues with life despite the end of the famous detective. And how John. H. Watson would then write the last page of his adventures with Sherlock Holmes.
REFLECTION
This task was very interesting, knowing what to do and making it happen are so different. Most of the time I had to experiment a lot to find out how to achieve the result I wanted. I'm glad I was able to bring out the look I wanted, yet I hope I could've done better. I will try again next time!!

Chosen Quote:
"We’re all bad in someone’s story."
Summary of design concept:
The quote may sound negative at first, but I personally I find it comforting. I used to be very aware and afraid about whether someone dislikes me, or why someone hates me. So a loved one used to tell me this a lot, that wherever you go, there will always be someone isn’t fond of you.
With this poster, I want to portray a calm yet memorable design using the red, black, and white colour palette. I want to focus on making “me” seem like the bad guy to the viewers. So in this case, i will be the viewer’s bad guy. While I will also show the fact that I am content with them thinking of me as the bad guy. In conclusion, my design will portray that no matter how good we think we are, we’re all still bad in someone’s story.
