✦ TASK 3: TYPE DESIGN AND COMMUNICATION
[4.11.2024 - 18.12.2024 /Week 7 - Week 13]
3. REFLECTIONS
✦ Experience
Typography was an interesting subject for me. Despite it being text, I was not expecting so much design related knowledge needed. Ad working in between the typography's many dos and don'ts forced me to think out of the box to design something special. It made me experienced something I never have, while learning design isn't all about graphics only.
✦ Observation
After this 14 weeks, I have noticed a lot of new things, such as the impact of type design. Especially in the type expression assignment. It showed to us that words can also sow emotion and meaning without overly obvious graphics. And I observed that layouts of a design can lead the viewer and inform them what the article is about.
✦ Findings
One of the significant things i learned was the fact typography isn't just calligraphy or making fancy fonts. The anatomy of Characters, leading, kerning, spacing...and many more were important parts of Typography that made it what it is now. Something that greatly impacts a design. Even just a page on our favorite novels were made using knowledge of typography, enabling us easy reading or instill emotions. Overall, this journey was eye opening and despite the hardships, I'm glad I was able to go through this.
