INSTRUCTIONS

Week 8

We were instructed to refer to past works and start on task 3. We have to create a auditory storytelling video. That has both imagery, voice and sound effects.
TASK 2

I found a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, "The Black Cat". And also found an animated short on the same story. 



I decided to choose only a part of the story to tell so that it is not too long.

After consideration, I decided to change it to an excerpt of Alice in Wonderland, using the Disney's story telling version.

Before we continued, our lecturer taught us how to reduce noise from an audio using:

  • Noise Reduction
  • Dynamics, noise gate & compressor
  • hard limited
  • Parametic Equalizer.
The part i chose is 9:10-11:28

I first recorded all the lines with my phone, I did it during midnight when its all silent and turned off the fan. Hiding in a blanket helped. 

After choosing the best take, I imported all the files into audition to edit. I added noise reduction and trimmed all the unnecessary parts. I also used dynamics with noise gate and compressor.

I then continued by adjusting all the volume so that all clips match. I realized my "S" was harsh so I utilised the deesser.

Following feedback, I added left right stereo for the cheshire cat and mad hatter.

FEEDBACK

Week 11

Should add Left and Right stereo for the characters so it seems like they're talking from elsewhere.

REFLECTION

Week 8-11

It was a very interesting project and I think out of all this, choosing the story and recording was the most difficult especially wihthout professional equipment. All in all, I enjoyed doing this,
